HOW TO USE THE DISNEY EXPERIENCE APP
Welcome to the magic of Disney! The Disney Experience app is your key to unlocking everything Disney has to offer during your visit. Below, I’ve outlined a step-by-step guide to help you make the most of the app and have a seamless, magical experience.
1. Linking Your Tickets to the Disney Experience App
To get started, you’ll need to link your tickets to the app:
-
Open the Disney Experience app on your mobile device.
-
Tap the three lines (menu) in the bottom right corner of the app.
-
Scroll down and select "Tickets and Passes".
-
Tap "Link Tickets" and enter the Ticket ID found on your Disney tickets or in your confirmation email.
-
Once linked, your tickets will appear in the app for easy access during your visit.
2. Making Genie+ Reservations
Genie+ allows you to skip the regular lines for select attractions. Here’s how you can make your reservations:
-
Open the app and tap the Genie+ icon at the bottom of the screen.
-
Select “My Day” to see available attractions.
-
Choose the attraction you want to experience and select an available time slot.
-
Tap “Book Experience” to confirm your reservation.
-
You can make one Genie+ reservation at a time, and once you use or cancel one, you can make another.
-
You can book one Genie+ pass at a time.
-
After you use or cancel your current Genie+ reservation, you can book another one.
-
If you don’t use or cancel your Genie+ reservation by the time the next eligible booking window opens (typically 120 minutes after the last reservation), you can book another attraction for that time slot or later.
-
This allows you to make the most of your day with multiple Genie+ reservations as you go along.
3. Making Dining Reservations
I recommend booking dining reservations ahead of time, especially for popular spots. Here’s how to do it:
-
Tap on the "Search" magnifying glass in the bottom menu.
-
Select "Dining".
-
Enter the date, time, and party size for your reservation.
-
Browse through the available restaurants and choose your preferred one.
-
Tap "Book Now" to finalize your reservation.
-
You can modify or cancel reservations directly through the app if your plans change.
4. Using the Map
The map feature is a great way to get around the park with ease:
-
Tap the “Map” icon at the bottom of the app.
-
The map will open, showing your current location (use GPS).
-
Pinch to zoom in or out, and scroll to navigate to different areas of the park.
-
You can also see wait times for attractions, find restrooms, dining locations, and more.
5. Checking Entertainment Schedules
Stay up-to-date with all the entertainment options in the park:
-
Tap the “Today” tab at the bottom of the app.
-
Scroll down to find Entertainment and tap it to see the schedule.
-
You can filter the entertainment by type (parades, fireworks, character meet-and-greets, etc.).
-
To set a reminder for events you're interested in, tap “Add to My Plans”.
6. Linking Your Resort Reservation
Linking your Disney Resort stay to the app makes your trip even more convenient:
-
Open the app and tap the three lines (menu) in the bottom right corner.
-
Select “Resort Hotel”.
-
Tap “Link Resort Reservation” and enter your resort reservation confirmation number.
-
Once linked, you can access your room key digitally, check in early, and explore resort amenities directly through the app.
7. Other Useful Features
Here are some additional features I think you’ll find handy:
-
Mobile Food Ordering: Skip the lines and order food directly from your phone. Just go to "Dining", choose your quick-service restaurant, and place your order.
-
Photopass: Access and download photos taken by Disney photographers.
-
Virtual Queue: For certain attractions, use the virtual queue feature to reserve a spot in line, available in the Genie+ section.
-
Notifications: The app will send notifications about wait times, reservations, and events. I recommend enabling notifications to stay up-to-date.
Additional Tips
-
Battery Life: The app can drain your battery quickly, so I suggest carrying a portable charger to stay powered up.
-
Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available in the parks, but using your cellular data might sometimes be faster for certain features.
-
Park Hopper: If you have Park Hopper tickets, you can use the app to check availability and make reservations across multiple parks.
